While the data from this project is open source and freely available, the code and maintenance are largely not. This API is one of many microservices that compose Altoal, and I need creative freedom to iterate and evolve the architecture.
I share this data because I believe it's useful to developers and researchers. However, if you're interested in joining the larger mission of Altoal, I'd love to hear from you. See Get in Touch below.
I'm Rob Dekovich, and I built (and maintain) the Countries API—but it's just one piece of a much larger puzzle.
I'm building Altoal, a platform that composes structured geopolitical intelligence datasets—countries, alliances, military doctrines, and more—to power AI-driven game theory analysis. The Countries API is a critical foundation: it provides consistent, structured metadata for modeling nation-states as entities in these analyses.
I'm embedding these datasets to analyze current events and ongoing crises through game theory, tracking how geopolitical forces are shaping up, and ultimately making predictions about where the world is headed. If this excites you, let's talk.
